Muscular Dystrophy

What is Muscular Dystrophy?

The CDC refers to Muscular dystrophy as a set of genetic conditions causing muscles to weaken progressively. These diseases arise due to changes in genes crucial for muscle function. Symptoms typically appear early in life, but can also emerge later. Signs include difficulty walking, frequent falls, stiff muscles, and, in severe cases, breathing or heart issues. Although there's no cure, treatments like physical therapy and specialized equipment can alleviate symptoms. Researchers are actively exploring new approaches to manage these conditions more effectively.
